About Me

I started this blog at the urging of my AK friends to help relay my moving to WA. I'm hoping this blog will evolve into a place where I share my home-decorating/remodeling, craft projects, and adventures in dog-ownership.

Thanks for reading!!

Cooking adventures

Lots of zucchini and squash =

Actually changed the recipe. And used zucchini and squash and the rest of my crepe batter from breakfast...  Yummy!!

The Pantry...

Well first off, we had to tear out the gross metal shelves that were in the pantry, too rusty and food stained to even consider keeping.  We had this random space above the pantry that needed to be removed, because all it would do would be to collect dust or hide stuff.
It was a white shelf...

We thought it would be great to use that space for a pot rack.  Which proved to be a lot more difficult to find to fit that space than originally planned.
So the ideas for making one began to form.  We were looking at thrift stores and our Restore for a cool gate.
And these ideas...

And from my new favorite magazine...

But then I found this industrial dishwasher rack at the Restore.

You can see it in the right bottom corner.
Then scrubbed, spray painted, and hung (with chandelier chain-also from the Restore)

Installed shelves, now we just need to finish the trim and we can start finally using our pantry!!

Roman Blinds

Roman blinds are realy expensive if you have abnormally wide windows like us, so I went on a search to make them myself...  (or with mom's help when she came to visit.)

...but then decided this way would work better and made the blinds by combining these ideas.  They still need more work but it's functional...

Tiling & Mosaics

I like this idea for using the same color to make cool shapes.  And I love spirals...
I’m back! Look what I did with my bathroom « Off the Wall

This is the tile that I got for our kitchen.
